Default Stripped battery terminal -help

Probably because I am constantly disconnecting it, the negative battery terminal post on my battery is stripped out.

What is the best way to fix it? Do they make "oversize" negative battery bolts? Would this be covered under warranty (it's an Interstate 75 only a few months old)?

Thanks all!

There are larger bolts if they will fit your cable. Take the bolt off the cable and take it to a large auto parts store.

Larger bolt is a great fix. However, if you really did strip the battery terminal in only a couple of months you may want to try a helicoil or other stainless insert/threadsert, and review your intallation/removal procedures. Battery terminals are soft and won't survive high torque and multiply cross threadings.

You might also consider something like this in future:
a quick disconnect that keeps you from using the terminal bolt.

Just try a different battery cable stud, normally it strips before the battery. If the battery side is stripped, you can retap. I've repaired thousands of batteries using one or both of these methods. Oh, I'm a repairman at a GM plant.

Is the post on the cable stripped, or the terminal inside the battery? I had the same deal but it was just the post, replaced it w/ one from auto zone. Less that $3 and five minutes. I find it hard to believe that you stripped the actual terminal inside the battery. The posts are pretty soft and likely to crossthread before the battery terms. If the battery is stripped, I would just get a new battery and post and call it a day.
