I just got a Corvette 95, previously mentioned here, when I first got it it said 15mpg.
And I drove it home primarily on the highway. It should be more?!
So I did the basic maintenance stuff, like changing oil, coolant, air filter.
I drove it today about 30 miles, in both city and highway...and when I got home, I checked the dash...it said 17.2mpg.
Is this normal, or low still?
Most of you said, I should just ignore the electronics - and test the MPG the old fashioned way, total miles driven divided by how many gallons pumped.
This past weekend, I drove from Los Angeles to San Diego. Averaged 25mpg to san Diego @ 70 / 75 MPH Averaged 22mpg for the trip. Returning to Los angeles @ 30 /40 mph
Your average will depend upon many factors.....speed, traffic, level of tune your Vette is at.
(O2 sensors, plugs, wires etc.)
Some Forum members average in the mid 20's. I average just under 22 mpg.
Just returned from Tulsa a couple of weeks ago, averaged 75mph and got 28. On the way up I was a good boy and the car got 29.9 and 30.
all this and about 400chp
On my 96 with an automatic, I'm averaging 22 going 30 miles one way to work with stop and go traffic. If I get on the freeway, I can get 30. I was getting 24 going to work, but with the 10% ethanol its been reduced.
1985 with a ZZ4 as listed below, auto with 3.07 gears. Just made a trip to Seattle and back (up over mountains) averaged 28.4 MPG on the 1800 mile round trip. Running about 400+ HP. Currently averaging 21.8 MPG highway/town and improving as the engine is breaking in.
Mine (91 L98 auto) moves around constantly. If i change gears and go from OD toD it changes right away as does any change in throttle or going down hill. You should not have to reset it like it is taking some running avaerge. It is taking the duty cycle of injectors time injector flow to get the fuel delivered and pulses from the tailshaft of the transmission for distance traveled and doing the arithmatic to get fuel burned vs distance right away.. I will note up to 45 mph mine reads better in D rather than OD and the sounds and fels much happier about everythin and I have the 3.07 gears I can not imagine how sluggeist a car with 2.59 gears must feel..
My Lt-4 reads 21.3 as the average over the 44,000 miles on the clock.
The mpg with the stock gearing was around 23, with the 4:10s it dropped to around 20 mpg.
my first c4 (94 6spd 3.54 modified) averaged 31.3mpg highway and 24 city.
my lt4 6spd with 4.10 gets 28 highway and 19 city, 24 combined.
It has been tuned by pcmforless, and I think if the engine temps were closer to stock the mpg would be better. It also has the 'vortex raim air' which I feel has a filter too small for the engine and could be reducing the mpg factor as well.
