I went through emissions today and passed! My tabs had expired in May, and my car had not been through emissions since I had rebuilt the engine. I had failed HC miserably at idle, while everything else had passed easily. I spent alot of time searching the forum and asking for advice, tuning, retuning and checking just about everything with my tune. This was the last test for my 85, and I did not want to wait until next year before I could drive my car. I decided to make sure it would pass, and even replaced my valve stem seals, as my car was smoking pretty good at idle. I bought my heads rebuilt on Ebay (just stock castings) and cheap. Everything seemed tight and the seals were new, but they had not installed the little rubber o-rings at the top of the valvestems. What a pain in the ****! I finished it up yesterday, and it was running great. I get in line and my check engine light comes on. I fold up a 20 and jam it in the info center to cover up the light for good luck. (and so they don't see it). On the rollers I go....and viola! I pass idle HC by the skin of my jolly berries. 200ppm out of 220. I am tabbed up and ready to cruise tonight. Oh, the check engine light was the IAT wire had come out of the sensor underneath the plenum during my seal change. I am also gutting the kitty tonight as well. Thanks forum!

My kitty was gutted a while ago, I think you'll enjoy it. You can feel the power the engine gains from it. Its mostly through the mid-high rpm range though.
I hope so...thats where it needs it the most.......I am hoping for a meaner sound, too. I am running Monza tips with an equalized catback and it sounds awesome, but could be a little louder. I decided to scrap this project for now, as my tips hang too low and I want to fix that while I am at it. So the whole system will be pulled and tweaked when I have a day. It's like a 100 degrees here, I am gonna go drive it instead of working on it for a change!
