Well, I'm in a slight pinch for cash but went looking for decent rear tires (my fronts look almost new) I decided I might as well just buy new wheels or wheels/tires as all the combos I've seen will only cost me about an extra hundred dollars. Problem was I wanted new z06 17 x 8.5 (so i could reuse my front tires) rims and 18 x 10.5 rims for the rear. Nothin... all 17 x 9.5 front. So after reading up on tire rack, it says my 255/45/17 gs d3's on my stock front 8.5 rims will actually fit on a 9.5" rim. So anyone actually used a 255 on a 9.5" rim, specifically the gs d3? I know it'll probably look pretty questionable but I'm more worried about danger or uneven wear. When they go next time around I'll actually go with a 265 or 275 tire but i'm just worried about it for the time being. Big thanks to all in advance.
when I bought my 90 it had c5 wheels on it with 245/40/17 toyo's on it and they look pretty bad on whatever width these wagon wheels are. You could tell they wore different the sidewalls were turned it quite a bit.
Odds are Jeff it was a 8.5" front, which 245 is actually what c5's are supposed to run believe it or not. I have options for the rear, either gs d3 and I've also priced firehawks which was what was on there. My only problem is I drove through the last two winters in PA and survived surprisingly easy. That's why i was thinking buying ok tires and wheel combo would be ideal now then save for a summer set of tires, store my gs d3 fronts, and buy a set for the rear come spring. Just wondering if the 255/45 is in most senses too small for a 9.5 rim. But I guess if tirerack says its good its good.

well, at least you only need a speed rated tire up to 25mph in the snow
