I'm new to the corvette scene, and so far I am very pleased with my car. However, my grandfather, a mechanic for over half of his life, believes I'm going to have to rebuild the current engine in my 89 Vette because it is burning oil. I was wondering if there is a "kit" you can purchase and have everything you need to rebuild the engine and make it a 383, or do you just have to make a checklist of everything needed? I need steering in the right direction here. Thanks in advance.
Google was very helpful, but I guess I'm looking for some recommendations from people who have purchased kits. You know... Who went with what kit? What kinda power is expected while still maintaining decent MPG's (anything over 20hwy)? Just tryin to pick the stroked folks brains a little.
That's what I'm lookin for. I guess comin from a Dodge to a Chevy it still gota hit for me. I'm used to there being a super secret place to get something done for your Dodge engine, where as Chevy is everywhere!!
Wow! I just thought ebay was cool. Ok. How do I know what to look for? I don't need an all out drag monster, because this is my DD, but I still want to be able to make some respectable passes at the track.
Oh yes, and what are some of the 383 stroked c4 vettes running on here? Are they still TPI?

Kits with SCAT / Eagle / Speedpro parts are bottom end quality parts more than suited to your budget needs. How good the engine builder is can be more of a factor.
If you are rebuilding the original '89 engine you need a kit with a 1 piece seal crank ( 1pce RMS ).

That is constantly discussed on here. Stock TPI will not get the job done. First injection and modded Stealth Ram are getting some use. The older popular intakes are Super Ram, Miniram, Edelbrock that are common. If you do a search, you can read till your eyes fall out.
