Default Starter constantly runs

Car has always started perfect. Like hardly any pause between turning the key and starting.

Now all of a sudden today I went to start it and the starter continues to run after the engine is started.

I turned off the engine and removed the key and the starter still keeps going. Only way to stop it is to disconnect the battery.

Any idea whats wrong and if it's a quick fix?

Either the solenoid is shorted or you've got another short that is constantly delivering power to the starter. If all else fails, have it towed to my shop

Sounds like the contacts are trying to weld themselves together. A new solenoid could be the easiest solution.

Whats the name and Address? I'm right across from the Del Paso country club on Watt.

Edit: Never mind. Found it in your profile. Any idea what kind of cost I'm looking at?

The solenoid may be bad or as agent86 said the contacts may be welded together. A cause of welded contacts can be low voltage, so be sure to check the battery and charging system too.

you may also want to check the retainer at the end of starter drive throw. If retainer is broken the drive can ride over the ring and stick keeping the solenoid engaged.

Can some one post a picture of the location of the starter for me? I want to make sure of its location.

I want to thank Paul Ruggeri at Top Performance for fixing my car and doing it super quick at that.

Turns out it was the starter and Paul had it replaced and ready to go in about half an hour of getting the part.

If you live in the Sacramento area I would definitely recommend him.
