Use the force...(search...tons of stuff on here) gear changes, cam...I'm looking at rear gear upgrade to a 3.07, maybe 1.6 roller rockers and springs and exhaust. probably the best bang for the buck without tearing into the motor.

Depends on how far you want to go and how many miles on the motor. I've got 87K on it and don't want to kill it. I've read that 1.6 roller rockers with new valve springs and headers will give me about 30 real hp, maybe a little more. 3.07 gears will get you out of the hole better than the stock 2.59 (think that the ratio) I wouldn't put a cam in it without rebuilding the bottom end as the last owner abused the **** out of her...until he went to jail

3.45...don't think so, you have to check the codes for the car. read the FAQ section at the top of this site..lot of info up there. 52000 , not saying for sure but these motors are pretty strong, at that milage you probably have a good bottom end that could stand some mods like a cam, heads etc. Ain't cheap though, especialy if you have a good shop do it. the farther you go the more you need good tuning to get it to run right. I'm still deciding if I want to keep her, market sux so she's worth zip right now. For 20K I can get a zo6 and not have to do a thing...but I kind of like her still, and she's a vert which I never had before.

Your right -- zo6 are priced right now. But still 20 grand vs 5 in my eyes is a big difference. Maybe I am dreaming and can't get much for 5

2.59 is the standard ratio for all automatics.
3.07 is an option, G44, but was standard for 85-88 L98 manuals.
3.31 and 3.33 popped up from time to time, too.
3.45 is the standard rear for ZF6 LT1s and ZR1.
3.54 was offered off and on for the ZR1 and the LT1. Beyond that, it's anybodies guess.

I'll second what's already been mentioned..if you have 2.59 gears the 3.07 would be a good upgrade. Mine came w/3.07s and I recently installed 1.6 rockers and springs...made a nice noticeable difference
