Default Help with power window switch install

Hi,i want to install my new power window switches but my shifter plate
swith holes were enlarged to fit some aftermarket switches.-
I have no idea where to attach my original switches maybe they removed something,i dont know ! i have no idea.-
the switches have some ears, maybe the plate bezel had some screw threads, but i cant find any trace of threads or something.-
Here are some pics of my console bezel plate from below and you can see that the holes are enlarged but not by much,i can live with that
but my problem is how to attach it! and ...if im able to attach it
i need to know the orientation of the switches ,but i think the right one
is with the orientation with the single pin to the front.-
Thanks , any help and pictures are appreciated !

This is what my "bone stock" 87 console and cover look like. I would think that the only options to reduce the size of the holes would be to fabricate to restore the holes to their original dimension. Or, as I've seen your post on WTB, get a replacement - did you check with vette2vette of Corvette recyclers? Sh.., check your local Chevy dealer, with CFC in process, they may have one their getting ready to "Explain the end of life options" to.

As you can see, in the last images, I had to reconstruct some of the plastic using JB Weld to fix places that over time had worn out due to the over torqueing of screws and wear and tear from remove and replace over the years. As to the exposed surface, I redid them completely with light sanding (teeth) "Acryli-Clean (PPG) to get a clean surface and then Bulldog Adhesion Promoter and lastly SEM Satin Black and Satin Clear.

Hope this helps.

The last two are the underside of the console itself (the part that has your "glove box".

My thoughts on making the hole smaller would be to fabricate a thin piece of aluminum to fit the OD of the switch (you could also use thin stirene (available at the hobby shop). and make a backing plate. Then after securing it in place, use some tape to make a dam so the JB Weld will not run. Then use JB weld to fill from the top up to the level of the original piece. Sand and paint. Bad news is you lose your "decals" as to what switch does what.

As I recall, (car isn't here so I am somewhat handicaped and going from memory) the switches are screwed into the main console section from the top and have those metal clips that slip onto the plastic. That assembly goes onto the hump and the switches then plug in to the electrical fittings you show. The "console cover" then covers the assembly and its screw heads. The coveer part just fits over the switches in place. So, it looks to me like all you need to do is make the hole in the cover smaller to fit. I don't know what your part below the cover looks like, that's why I sent those last two shots. Make sense?

You can see in the last two pics where i had to "rebuild" the plastic where the metal clips fit (it's lumpy). What I did was dammed up the hole with tape to keep the JB Weld from running. Then I sprayed the screw with WD-40 and screwed it in place. Applied the JB Weld and when set backed out the screw. The WD-40 on the threads prevents the JB Weld from welding the screw in place.

Incidently, that's a good way to reconsruct a broken plastic piece that a screw goes into. Just put the screw in its place with WD-40 on it, tape off the area you are going to "pour" the JB Weld and refabricate the plastic around the screw and back out the screw after it sets up. Good as new!
