Yep should have done it from the start, but tried lt1 intake swap first,it runs pretty good but not like it should, combine that with troubles getting the intake to seal up have helped me make up my mind, plus i'm a old school carb guy anyway, would like to do swap as cheap as possible, stealth intake, 650 holley, any advice from carb guys on doing the swap?,would like to use computer (85) for as much as possible, need advise on converter lock up,stock dist or vac advance? ,cooling fans, fuel pump???TV cable set up,throttle, cruise control?P.S saving all my FI stuff not butchering the car.

I think you'll have to use a vacuum advance dist. because the EST won't have control over the timing anymore

An HEI dist with vac advance...Fuel pump has to be wired to come on and stay on with the key...Fuel pressure reg(3 Way) to meter your pressure down to 6-7 lbs...You can use the stock in tank FP..the fan has to be wired to come on(Summit has a kit)..Make sure that the manifold will clear the hood..Performer,Torker,and X's seem to fit without modifying your hood...It's not that hard..As far as the trans there are few ways to go..A kit from Superior Trans or wire the lock up with an on off switch..I'm sure others have some other ideas and I prolly forgot somethings but it's early

You might just pull the cats off as well as the carb will kill them in short order in case you want to put it back to oem one less thing to buy.

For the throttle cable and TV cable try these Holley part#s. 20-119 , 20-121 , 20-112. Sort of pricey but it gets the geometry correct and works pretty slick. I do not know about the cruise control however, mine is long gone. For a nice return style FP regulator take a look at Aeromotive 13301.

Went with Holley #20-121 and #20-95 high quality parts stock cables will appear to work without any fab work.

Stock cables worked fine when I carbed my 84. Just purchase a bracket that attached to one of the carb studs. You'll need to scrap your ecm. As mentioned, use a vacuum hei distributor that has mechanical advance. I controlled my fans with an adjustable fan controller that has a probe that goes into the radiator hose. I had no problem controlling my lockup using the same switch on the console used for the 4+3. I even lock the converter up at wot at the strip with this switch. When the car was on the street, I would lock the converter up on the freeway just like a fifth gear. Just have to remember to unlock it before a stop. You may want to go with an aftermarket lockup controller as mentioned.
