1996 Speedo/Odo question

When you change the speedometer/odo cluster is the correct mileage displayed, or, the mileage on the replacement unit?

I'm looking at a car and I have my suspicions on the mileage...I know on many GM vehicles of this era the mileage would show the replacement units mileage.

The mileage is stored in the CCM, not in the cluster. If the CCM was replaced, the mileage will be reset. Swapping clusters does not affect the mileage reading.
