Default Lucky me

I bought the antenna kit to replace the mast that is most often the problem, but I'm not that lucky. I wondered if there are any tricks to get the remaining piece that is left in the base? I have seen the FSM instructions how to remove the whole unit from the car so I can remove the broken part. My guess is there is about 6 inches left inside, based on comparing the length of the new to the old one I removed.
Thanks
Al

It has to come out or you will screw up the new ribbon..Its not that hard just 3 or 4 screws or rivets, separate the 2 halfs , clean out the old ribbon, put it back together, then run the new ribbon down from the top. I did mine and didn't even undo the wires, it had enough slack that I did it under the car....WW

Thanks WW7, that seem easier than removing the whole unit. Guess I know what I'm doing this weekend.
Thanks
