We live in texas with emissions inspections. If I convert to carb'd on a 1990 I'm assuming I would fail emissions?
We want a car thats not TOO computerized to make it easier to work on as a first project car. If this isn't do-able, whats the cheapest ecu upgrade, and fuel injection upgrade?
Sorry I was tired when I wrote the post. My first choice would be a carb conversion, but only if it will pass emissions, and my second choice is upgrade the fi setup if #1 is not possible
Fuel injection is not as complicated as you think. Plus, why would you want to go back 50 years and put a carb in? Do some reading and use this forum. Its amazing what these guys can talk you through.
Carbs aren't very good at emissions lol. They do make power easier and cheaper than FI though
You could pass emissions but you'd need all the emissions equipment still on the car and working in good order. Lean out the fuel/air ratio and you might just pass.
Aftermarket ECU's are a lot more user friendly than the stock one though and can be adjusted.
