I would agree with that statement 100%. In this case it appeared he'd already purchased it, so why not install it? It certainly can't worsen his situation.

The fact I'm interested in other things doesn't mean I feel there's any inferiority. The only thing that truly leads me away from Honda is the enthusiast based, not the product. As far as Honda engineering is concerned, I'm quite confident it's the top tier out there...period.

I also believe in Corvette which is why I've been an enthusiast of these cars for even longer. The only thing that kept me from these cars were finances.

This statement was an opinion. Your statement concerning the B18/B20 "specifically" was incorrect, so certainly it made me question your claims of "window area" observations. If part of the statement is incorrect on basis of fact, yes I'm going to be inclined to question the entire statement. This is why I merely asked for more specific data.

I think the OP has benefited well from this conversation. I merely wanted to call off the fire dept. since everyone seemed to be implying the OP's engine was damaged and he should check his bank account balance. I just feel he should take it one step at a time. It seems to me that in a roundabout way we're both giving the same advice here.

Take it one step at a time, evacuate the blow by with what you already have available, if the problem continues then troubleshoot further. For piece of mind, do a compression check and/or leakdown to determine the true health of the motor at this point.

I'm not attacking your experience or expertise, but I do have a right to an opinion correct? It seems you just became aggravated because I questioned your "window area" statement. Blow by is blow by, managing it is straightforward and the cause is the same so why did it have to become a Honda vs. SBC discussion? I simply felt you were being demeaning. I merely wanted to lend the OP my opinion in order to help cause that's what a forum is for. It seems like your making it appear as if I've hurt this process because this thread didn't end with your declaration of the issue.

No hard feelings man, I'm sure I'll be seeking some of your Corvette specific advice later.

Hi Guys - I'm waiting to see what Indy has to say after I told him the following:

The L98 Vettes with those metal valve covers and orange silicone gaskets were always a problem for me. You need a new gasket and you need to scrupulously clean/remove all oil with lacquer thinner. Even with all the blow-by in the world the gasket should stay in place. As another reader noted you will usually first push the dipstick out (replace old dipsticks too - they'll push oil out w/o a blower!) first. Besides Indy has a breather on each cover. I suspect if Indy had the plastic valve covers from the newer LT1's (with an Oring) we wouldn't be having this discussion!!! Happy Labor Day !!! greg

Sorry for not following this thread and letting everyone know how the evac system worked. Things around my house have been a little hectic lately. Well, I followed Greg's recommendation and thoroughly cleaned the gaskets and then plumbed both valve covers (stock) into the low pressure side of the blower through the air filter. Since doing these two things I have not had any pressurization or valve cover gasket problems.

Unfortunately, my tranny bit the bullet today so I will again be under the car working on it instead of up top driving it. Thanks for all of the comments and suggestions.

Did you ever perform the static compression test or a leakdown test? There would be valuable data in the results from those tests.

No, I have not. It is however in my plans for a winter project. Since I will be pulling the tranny, I will have plenty of "down time" to do he test.
