check engine light? how do i find the code?

Default check engine light? how do i find the code?

Isnt there a way to check codes on a 92? like a diagnostic mode? and if so, where do i find the definitions? please help. light just started coming on while driving down highway after about 20 minutes, then off again when car cools down.

Bend a paper clip into a "U" shape and insert it into the A & B terminals on the ALDL under dash near your right knee ... A & B are next to each other on top right of ALDL ... turn ignition to run and count the # of times the SES light flashes between pauses ... it will flash one , then two times thrice then will flash whatever is stored ... then the 'ol one-two again to let you know its done ... now you have the trouble codes ... you'll need an FSM to determine the diagnostic troubleshooting flow chart for your particular code(s) ... or post it here

This website seems to contradict itself- the 92 uses A and G to get codes, and you don't have to count flashes- it appears on the speedo. They do say this later in the write up- but not after you might have grounded out the wrong 2 terminals.

The A-G grounding method is in the FSM. I found a used set of Gordons plugs and use that all the time now.

Where are you? If you are close to Stone Mtn GA you could come by and use mine.
