have a 1987 corvette with bad air solenoids and swithes (broken plastic) can this system be elliminated with out damaging converters? also will this effect computor function?
Removal of the AIR pump and associated piping will not cause any problems. Be sure to cap off all vacuum lines. An AIR pump eliminator pulley kit is kinda pricey at $150 but the engine bay looks alot cleaner. Lots of folks have done it including myself.
I say no. the unburnt fuel needs to burn or it will damage the converters.
The air is only injected at certain times; the rest of the time the cat works without it.

You can leave the one way valves on the exh manifolds and just cap them with a 5/8" rubber cap and hose clamp.Or you can remove them completely and use a metal cap on the threaded pipe.Everything else can come off
Be sure to tape up the connectors on the wires that were plugged into the divertor valves. These are live ; key on

Yeah forgot about the manifolds, mine were already done with a 1/2" metal plug by the PO. I did tape up the connectors too. Good catch Rod!

Who makes the pulley kit that you have and where did you get it.
I'm considering de-veining my existing pulley and just removing all the additional plumbing but if it doesn't work I may have to go with the kit.
I got mine from TPiS directly but I think several retailers offer it too. They said that the original belt could be reused but I ended up getting one an inch shorter. I also ground off a little of the alternator casing for the bolts to go into the block. TPiS is highly respected and makes many great products for our generation. I dont know what the difference was on my car.
If you do a search for AIR elimination brackets I think you will find quite a few who have either gutted the pump or made their own brackets. I went with the premade one because I dont have the equipment to make one myself.
Good Luck!
