Default GM LT4 hot cam kit?

Hey guys, what kind of hp gains can I expect by installing the GM LT4 hot cam kit that comes with the

LT4 Cam (24502586)
16 roller rocker arms-1.6 (12370839)
16 valve springs (12551483)
16 valve caps (10212808)
16 valve keys (24503856)
16 valve spring shims (10212809)

?

As it stands, the mods on my vette are ported intake, ported heads (I think, just bought it), ported throttle body, magnaflow true duals with x-pipe, MSD ignition, and a circle D transmission with a 2500 rpm stall converter... That's all I can remember for now.

Thanks in advance!

25-30 peak hp, add headers and you will see even better hp nbr's.

I would have thought it would be a little more than that. Guess it would depend on who ported the heads.

If it has ported head, intake, tb, etc ....I wonder what cam is in it now? Hotcam may cost you power if previous owner selected a proper cam for the combo.

You can port, cam, stroke all you want, if you don't have the exhaust setup for it, you are not going to gain much.

Think of it this way, if you take a big breath and someone sticks something on your mouth. The breath won't help you run fast, because you can't get your breath out.

A friend of mine has the hot cam kit in his '92(stick). With just the kit and a pair of shorty headers he gained 45rwhp. But I think most of that came from the air foil.:o

while ill admit i could gain some power with a better exhaust system, right now my car turns good numbers with the factory exhaust

the only exhaust mod on my hotcammed LT4 is muffler elims, but it still manages 116mph in the 1/4. people are amazed when i pop the hood and they see the stock exhaust manifolds

I'm 90% positive there isn't any kind of cam upgrade in there right now and if there is they probably would've been better with the stock one. It doesn't sound or act like it's cammed.

I agree completely which brings me to my next question: What are the options available for long tubes for an LT1 Vette? I haven't seen much out there...

What kind of times? Auto or standard? What year? Is it worth the $500 for the parts?

If you will use the search funtion there should be lots of threads on LT1 headers. Also check the vendor list ie Exotic Muscle has them.

mines a 96' LT4, they were only availible in a manual trans

it also has the original 98k mile clutch so my E/T suffered a bit due to slipage between shifts and launching. my best E/T was only 12.2, but the mph shows its defintately got 11s in it

is it worth it? depends on what your goals are for the car. the springs are only good for .525 lift, so if you plan on going bigger down the line, you may want better springs. the cam by itself is a good value as most aftermarket roller cams are around $50 - $100 more

id like to see how far i can push the hotcam with stock LT4 heads. the goal is 120mph (N/A, stock cubes) and looks like i may reach that since i dont have much else done as of yet
