Default codes?
Ok so im still new with this stuff. but i always read threads saying check for "codes" what does this mean and how do i check mine? My engine cuts at about 4500 rpm and just spits and backfires. the worst part is it could be so many different things. but anyway, how do i check the codes and what do they mean?

Thanks!

oh and its a 1992 lt1 6spd

i am going to go ahead and say its your opti off of your description.. is your check engine light on?

nope no light is on. should i replace the opti with another or go aftermarket ignition?
