I plan to paint the floor in the man cave this weekend with the epoxy paint and I am looking for tips and advice on cleaning and prep. The floor is not a virgin and does have a "few" oops spots, one really good one involving a drain pan and a size 13 sneaker. Any suggestions on respirators and acid washing?

I will just provide this tip in that if you run your vette hard and park on the surface with hot, sticky tires, the polymer coatings will lift. Forget about DRs or slicks. Polymer coatings bond well with rubber...
I have nice imprints of the tires in multiple places from this, and yes, the floor was prepped very, very well.
If it's a sealed concrete floor, like mine was, I tried the acid wash and cleaner. Lot's of rinsing required and then drying time. I put epoxy down and it was good for awhile then started to come up with wear. When I moved into present house, did some research this time. Same sealed concrete floor, this time I rented a concrete floor buffer/sander then did the rinsing , etc before putting down epoxy. 6 years later, still looks pretty good. Add anti-skid to epoxy mix and then spring for sealer to apply after curing. Have fun, the prep is a pain but if you put the time in, you'll get a nice finish. Oh yeah, it helps to have about 7-10 days of nice weather, cause your cars will be outside that long at least. High heat and humidity will make your drying time after cleaning/rinsing and application of epoxy and sealer evn longer.
