gear drives, even the quiet ones, will make noise. after a while the quiet ones get just as loud as the others. the whine will sound cool for about the first couple of times you hear it. id just get a double roller timing chain.

Eventhough they are louder, I have heard that gear drives are more reliable over the chain. I know that if you change your oil like clockwork your chain will last forever, but if the gears are better is it worth the noise?

They are A LOT louder. It will sound like you are running some kind of blower everywhere you go. As said above, sounds cool the first few times, but to each his own.
Gear drive will be much more accurate. As for sound yes they are louder, but that is going to depend on the person whether you like it or not. As for knock, there have been several arguments over the frequency of the gear drive setting knock. I believe that it will not do that. I am going to prove this. I am installing on and I will have LT1 edit to prove the knock theory. So just wait a bit and I will clear everything up.
