Well, I installed my new camshaft and found out that the drive pin is too long. Does anybody know an easy way to fix this or am I going to have to bust out the hack saw?
I had the same problem with my CC306 and figured that the dowel pin was not pressed in as far as it could go. I took a small hammer and tapped it in so it would clear the timing cover.
The longer pin is for the newer optispark. You can pull the long pin out and install the shorter pin. Tapping it into the cam should work too, but it depends on who made your cam. On the ZZ3 and LT4 Hot cam I have it looks like it should work. The worst thing that could happen is the pin bottoms out before it goes in far enough.
I tried tapping it in and that didn't seem to work. It's a ZZ-9 cam and I called TPIS and they said just grind it down. So the local NAPA did it for me (don't have my own grinding bench) and it fit great. Thanks for the help guys.
