Headers / starter fitment
Can anyone who has installed headers on a 93 tell me if the starter needs to be changed out. The person who may do the install was saying that some years have a problem with the full sized starter. The headers are Stainless Works and he may have been referring specifically to them.

GM stopped using the "full-size" starter after the 87 modles, IIRC. After that, the Nippondenso style starters that were used are a gear reduction type and about half the size of the old GM starters.
You should have no problems with either shorty or long tube headers on LT1 cars and the OEM or direct replacement starters.
