Default Post-Headlight Rebuild Problem

I rebuilt the headlight motors in a 1996 yesterday. Didn't seem to have any issues, but when it was all put back together they don't work properly.

Both sides spin to various degrees of their total range, but neither spin forward or backwards completely.

By using the manual ***** they will spin both ways completely, but not on their own.

The ***** are noticeably harder to turn than before the rebuild. Are the gears mated together too tight or something of that nature? Is there an adjustment that must be made? Perhaps to the screw on the bottom of the motor?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Are you sure you put them back together the same way they were when you took them apart Did you mark the linkage when you took them apart so you make sure it lined up when you put them back on ??? Its sounds not....

I put new gears in my right one after it had failed, and it would "lock up" in the all the way down position. It would be so tight, that the manual **** would barely turn. I would bust it loose by turning the **** a few times, then it would work fine. After I had to do this a few times, it started working properly. I don't know if this is any help, but I have the feeling that there are some clearances or gaps on the switches inside that need to be set. Maybe someone else here knows the insides of those things that can help.

Turns out the flathead screw at the bottom of the motor needed adjusting on both of them...
