Default Rephrasing my question...

OK, I just posted a post about "what order would blah blah blah..."

OK, here's a better stated question, or pair of questions anyway, and should get to my point a little easier.

All right, here's the plan, LONG TERM goal:

LT1 C4 (auto) that runs a HIGH 11- LOW/mid 12 1/4 mile time, pushin about 400 horse power or more (at the flywheel, crank) and handles well (given that handling mods will prob add weight it'll just take more power).

Now, for short term, I'm getting a lot of offers on my Trans Am lately, so I'm gonna be getting into a C4 soon, HOPEFULLY, and all though I'll have to drive it a while to make sure I get all the kinks worked out before I mod it, I'll have anywhere from $1,800 - $2,500 to sink into it right away.

The MAIN things I wanna do is 3.73s, 26-2800 stall TC, 52 mm TB, heads/cam w/custom programming, powerstat, Tri-Flo exhaust (or something similar), camber brace, cross bar, sway bars, either K&N (free open lid mod) or SLP claw, headers (all though I'll have to go short tube to compensate for emissions, so probably just ported manifolds), and then along with those things come everything else, such as a vented opti, timing chain, transmission cooler, spark plugs, wires, etc.

So here's the poll/question for you guys...

With the money I will have to spend on mods, what do I buy to BOTH give me a great foot ahead towards my low 12s, AND, be something good to set up later mods?

Thanks in advance

It's just a simple opinion question. You guys have more experience, I know some of you wish you'd done certain things and not done certain things, just looking for what you'd do first.

Try to get ahold of a Z-51 car and you won't have to worry about putting too much into the suspension at the beginning...then you can easily go with the torque converter and gears...that'll give you a nice kick in the pants.

A lot of people responded to a lot of questions about your LAST fantasy car. Maybe some of us are waiting to respond to a real situation, rather than a daydream.

... just looking for what you'd do first.
My answer? Buy a car!

I guess I'll quit asking questions and trying to learn as much detail about these things as I can and just base what I buy on magazine quotes. As far as getting the car, as soon as my Trans Am is sold, there are about 20 Corvettes around town alone that I can buy right then and there and check out, and I've got $4,000 sitting in my house right now for parts. Maybe I like to figure stuff out before I get into a position that I don't want to be in?

To everyone else, thanks for the e-mails and previous replies to other posts, I think I've got it down now :flag

Just get the Vette and enjoy it for the first couple months. Save your money for all the dates you'll start having... :yesnod:

Sorry, if you felt like I jumped down your throat. Sitting back and reading is a great way to learn. And this forum can teach you a lot. You can learn the various weakness's and strenghts of different years, by observation. The question you posed in this pole:

"With the money I will have to spend on mods, what do I buy to BOTH give me a great foot ahead towards my low 12s, AND, be something good to set up later mods?"
Has nothing to do with vehicle selection. It is asking for advice on MODIFYING a vehicle. According to this, you've picked the car. You are asking for advice on how to best modify a car you may never own. We've counciled you on the modifications of other cars, that at this time, looks like you won't be buying. I respond to a fair number of questions, on here. I am happy to assist any fellow member with any kind of problem or inquiry that I feel qualified to comment on. I for one, would prefer to deal in reality. I'm sorry, but I don't think it is fair of you to ask for help building sand castles in the sky.

"As far as getting the car, as soon as my Trans Am is sold, there are about 20 Corvettes around town"
It's one thing to ask about features, even prices, but I hope you won't try to have us MODIFY all 20 of them before you make a selection.

I am happy to assist with any REAL problem you may encounter. Peace and good luck.
