Default 52mm Throttle body vs stock

I am considering replacing my stock throttle body on my 95 LT1 with a 52mm. Are there any significant HP gains to be made by making this change alone? If not what other mods need to be done at the same time? What are some of the better after market options? How big a job is it to replace? Thanks!

Its an easy job to do, but there really isnt any Hp to be gained with just a 52mm TB, the rest of the intake needs to be opened up, look into an LT4 manifold along with a 52mm for a decent gain

Id leave the stock one in...there was also a post on here not long ago with an LT4 engine and no real gains with a larger TB.

The car runs fine with the stock one and until you have 383 cubes in that motor and or serious head and engine mods, I wouldnt buy a larger TB.Also, some are a PITA to tune right although easy install.
I had a 52MM and tried it out...while it worked fine, (and I wish I kept it for future mods down the road)..for the mods I had,it didnt do much.I really needed a head, cam and possibly stroker package to benefit the most from it.If youre stock or near stock, dont buy one unless you plan the real mods.

Yes, only if you had a stock LT4 motor, it would give you some extra HP. This is because LT4 manifolds have a 52mm bore so it is a perfect match with the 52mm TB. LT1 however are 48mm so your stock is fine until you get heads and cam.

Actually LT1 manifolds also have a 52mm bore. But it's still not really worth it on a stock motor, a lot of $$$ for basically zero gain.
