I want to paint my brake calipers and my search here on CF gave a lot of good tips on the painting process. The popular choice seems to be to take the calipers off.
I have the car up on stands and wheels off so my question is can I remove the brake line and give it a make shift cap and not drain the fluid?
My hope is I can put the finished calipers back on and not have to do the bleeding.
You would be foolish not to bleed it, some air will definitely be in there. Its only going only to be about 2 or 3 pedal pumps to get out that small amount of air. Its all apart already, on jacks and no big deal, 30 seconds each side with an assistant.

If the brake fluid has not been fully flushed with new fluid in more than 2 years get a quart of fluid and FLUSH all that old fluid out. You will thank me later.
You should flush with new fluid every couple of years.
Mine winds up getting flushed a couple times a year since it sees a lot of road course time.
I still remember the crap I flushed out of an 88 one time, it was nasty.
