AFR is a much better casting. Quality is alot better, you get what you pay for. Trick flow has had quality control issues for a long time, valve guides, geometry problems and assorted other things. I have owned both and AFR gets my vote hands down.

It depends on what application you are building the engine!!!

For me, NA are good both. FI system is AFR is better. It has better flow!!

Racer69,

I know nothing about AFR Heads, but I can speak very highly of Trick Flow's Twisted Wedge Heads.

Once I got the combination correct (pushrod lengths, rockers) I could not believe the awesome performance gains over my stock '86 Vette heads. I'm the original owner of my '86, and after 125K miles on my stock Vette engine...I began to experiment with different after market products.

Back in 1994 when I actually ordered my Trick Flows from Summit (it took me 1 year, and 1 month to receive these heads, due to production problems...or so I was told)...I thought maybe I had made a mistake, even though the price for the Twisted Wedge heads went for $699. A great price, but my thinking was, would it be worth the risk...once they ironed out their problems. I was patient, and I think it paid off.

Once I got the heads...fresh out of the box...installed...then sorted out the requirements for pushrod lengths, and rockers...took my '86 out for some passes (highway)...it was such an overwhelming experience versus what I had been used to the previous 9 years I had owned the car.

By this time I had already installed the TPIS ZZ9 cam/lifters, TPIS Headers, TPIS Prom V chip, and their Fuel regulator...but the Trick Flow heads are what brought it all together.

I think they make a damn good product, and I know those Trick Flows make some awesome horsepower.

I see you run AFR's per your signature, and as I mentioned earlier I can not speak to or about AFR since I've never owned a set, but my suggestion would be to not overlook Trick Flow's Heads if you want to investigate other possibilities.

Good Luck!!
