Default Coolant Overfill?

On my '93 LT1, the coolant level seems to be overfilled. When the engine is cold, the level is up to the "Hot" mark. One of the strange symptoms is that when I first start the car, when it's cold, I'll find collant on the floor. But it stops as soon as the car warms up.

I can't see where it is coming from. The car is running OK, and the temp is correct.

Could the system just be throwing off the overfill?

Depends on where on the floor the coolant is. If it is near the reservoir tank, you have the tank overfilled, which if its on full(hot) line you are over filled. If the coolant is away from the reservoir, it could be from something different. My 91 had a coolant leak that drove me crazy and I thought it was coming out of my water pump and finally found it was a hair line crack in the coolant temp sensor that screws into the front of the intake manifold. Keep looking and you'll find it eventually. Good Luck

If your overflow is too full suck out some coolant with a turkey baster.

Gotta be the problem. When did you last fill (overfill) the coolant?

Rebuilt the engine this summer. Got carried away when I was refilling the cooling system.

Looks like my wife is going to need a new turkey paster.

Thanks guys.

Conclusion.

The turkey baster fixed the problem. I guess it was just over filled and was throwing off the excess.

Thanks everybody.
