85 speedo and tack LCD
Hello, new to this forum. I have a 85 c4, I have had it for a little over a mounth. My problem is the LCD read out, it does not stay lit all the time. Some times I can hit the dash, and it will come on, but nothing on it works. I bought another one and installed it and eveything works, but it does the same thing as the old one as far as not lighting up. It acts like maby its not getting a ground to me, but I am not sure. Sure could use some help, Thanks

First off - stop hitting the panels they are fragile and can be damaged internally by impacting them for the outside. Sounds like you had 2 issues: one which you resolved by changing your panel out and 2 your back light has a problem on that side of cluster. Often times people just replace the "bulb" but continue to have intermittent issues. It is best to replace the bulb and socket at the same time as there are 4 potential connection contact points at each bulb/socket which could be making poor connectivity and result in a lighting failure. A simple cleaning of the old bulb sockets will not be a long term solution. You'll have to take the cluster back apart again to change the bulb sockets....I recommend clean the bulb socket contact points on the PCB card then changing all 4 of the main back lighting sockets and bulbs while your in there next time.
