Wheel fitment
I have a gentlemen that is interested in my C5 wagon wheels for his
'93 C4 & wants to inquire if my wheels would be a direct fit ????
They are: 17 x 8.5 58mm
18 x 9.5 65mm
Would he need spacers if need be ?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks

I just put '08 wheels on a '94. I think the '08 is the same as the C5???
'08 wheels are 18-19 inch wheels
If they are in fact the same, you will need to put a 1/2 inch spacer on the rears only. The tires will rub on the suspension if you don't gain clearence on the inside of the tire.The fronts fit fine. I also changed the lug studs on the rear to ARP 1/2 inch longer than the stock. The lug nuts only grabed on about 3 threads of the stock stud with the spacers and I didn't feel that was enough to be safe. The longer lugs can be installed without removing the hub from the car but you have to grind off a flat spot on one side of the stud head for clearence past the hub assembly on the back of the rotor. I checked with
ARP engineers to be sure I would not weaken the stud. Just grind slowly so as not to heat the stud. PS They look great with the new wheels on the 94.

The studs I used are ARP race quality studs and are harder and better quality than a stock stud. The 1/2 spacer does put some extra strain on the studs and yes, it is a good idea to always check them for the proper torque on the lugs. The adapters are quit a bit thicker than the spacers because there has to be room for the nuts to hold on the adapter and not interfere with the wheel itsef from sitting properly on the hub. I don't see a need to go any wider than the 1/2 ,it still gives good clearence to the body panel and does clear the inner fender well and suspension. I started with larger fender washers ,1 at a time on each stud until I got the correct clearence and then went with the 1/2 inch spacers when I got the total thicness I needed.The tapered lugs that are on this type of wheel does a pretty good job of centering the wheel on the hub and I haven't felt any change in the balance and the car still handles about the same. The only thing I did feel was that the run flats are quite a bit harder and the tires break loose easier on a hard accelleration.
