This is a little different that usual. The guy I bought my car from put a cat back system in the car, but choose very quite (in my opinion) mufflers. He autocrossed the car for several years, wining championships with it. I am happy with the power, would like a little more engine music at idle and deceleration. Is there set of replacement mufflers anyone knows of that will meet this itch? I am very happy with the car as is, a little more growl would be whipped cream on top.
do you know what he put on the car?? I have billy boat tri flo's and they sound great at idle and wow at wide open throttle..I kept the factory resonator on. it resonates alittle between 1300 and 2300 but not bad at all.
What year is the car? Does the car have cats? Is there a front Y-pipe with pre-cats? Are you required to have cats for emissions testing/certification? It's a help if you fill out your profile showing the year of the car and then show any mods in your signature. Also knowing where you live can help answer questions.
Some systems will be quieter than others; some have no real noise at cruise yet will be loud at WOT. Some systems will have a nice sound at lower RPM's and get louder towards WOT. Some systems will generate lots of interior resonance to the point where it's annoying.
Some people here have simply kept the cats and removed the mufflers and replaced them with pipe. A muffler shop could do that for $30 to $50.
Sorry guys I am in Mission Viejo California. As you may know California has it's own special smog laws. Yep got keep the Cats. They even vacum The fuel cap. I will have to look at the cat to see how the pipes run. I have a 1990 L98 6 speed. Always a California car.
