Ok here's what's going on.... I've done everything needed to build my 383. A few months ago I go a tune from Fast Chips after changing my intake from TPI runners to a Mini Ram. The fast chip tune has my car running better than the old tune. It pulls hard when I stomp on the accelerator, but it has a slight low tone popping sound only when at steady cruising speed, and every so often it has a slight stumble when taking off (700r4) from a stop. The idle is between 7-800rpm. My spark plugs, wires, and distributor components are all good. My fuel pressure is 42psi.
I know the 85 ECU is a dinosaur. As much as I want to.... right now I'm not in a position to buy a after market stand alone ECU. A mail order tune is too much hit and miss. Can anybody link me to a shop or forum member that can do a dyno tune or street tune? I'm willing to take a 2-3 hour trip. I'm willing to do an 86 - 91 model ecu swap if there's someone who can help me out with the process. So this is my last go round trying to get a good tune.
You can check out Moates.net. They can set you up with the hardware to tune your car with a laptop. If you have more questions you should post in the scan +tune section.
Do you have an original non-messed-with chip available? I would at least try it. BTW I ran my 85 MR 408 on a stock chip for months...a few days to test isn't going to hurt anything.
If your having a low tone popping sounds like it might be leaning out... ? Or could the throttle positioner be erratic?
Just a thought...
MO
Thanks for the reply Mo....you're right I think it is leaning out. I did a data log run yesterday using my lap top and WinALDL. I don't have much knowledge in reading all the info, but I was told the INT and BLM should be between 125 to 130. Ideal perfect number is 128. My INT was 116 and BLM 134. Those numbers indicate that my A/F ratio is out of wack.

I'll check out moates thanks! I post this thread in the scan and tune along with this section to get a better response. In the scan and tune I've gotten 27 view with no replies at least in the performance section I got 84 views with 4 replies.

I wish I had the original chip. Not paying attention when cleaning out my garage I threw it out by mistake. I thought of doing that too.
