Default C68 climate control info >>>>

Recently, I decided to do some extensive interior work on my '92 C4. I didn't want to run down the battery, but needed to be able to open the hatch, so I pulled the courtesy light fuse.

After I was done, while driving the car, I noticed the green LED on the C68 climate control blinking. When I accessed the trouble-code, it was "01."

Upon reading the service manual, I found the suggestion that the C68 climate control has two power inputs, one powered through the courtesy light fuse and the other through the radio fuse. In my words, the manual states that the power has to be applied by both power sources at the same time consistentlly. If the power is interrupted on one of the sources, the logic in the C68 climate control is corrupted. The way to reset it is to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery, wait a minute, and reconnect -- I guess you could call this a re-boot of the climate control. By doing this, if the fuses are good, applies the power simultaneously to both terminals on the climate control.

So, if the one of these fuses blows and your LED on the climate control starts blinking after the fuses are replaced, try disconnecting the battery and see if that solves the problem -- its a cheap solution, if it works.
