Default Flow Master Mufflers

I dont see many threads on flowmaster exhaust.I am considering this system for my 91 . Anyone here use this system on their car? How is the sound/performance? Looks like this sells for about $475 is this a good deal or should i keep looking?

From what I've read most of the Flowmaster individual mufflers are too loud in the cabin of our cars. But, I've been running the Flowmaster Force II cat-back for over 10 years, and love the sound, very little if any interior resonance.

I don't have a whole flowmaster system on my LT1, but I have their Delta Force mufflers and love them. Of course, I like mine loud. It's not open headers loud, but it's louder than most street cars.

I just picked up a 93 coupe and it came with Flowmasters. I will say, it is very a loud system and I get some cabin drone around 2500 rpm. However, I do have an X pipe instead of a resonator and I suspect that my cats are hollow. So, my ride may be louder than other cars with Flows.

This car is still new to me so I don't mind the volume at all. The sound puts a grin on my face whenever I start it up and, it turns heads. I'd only consider changing it out if I install long tube headers down the road. I kind of wonder if I'll be able to hear myself think inside the car after a header install.

I also have EM long tubes and Dynatech Powercats. The headers did increase the sound, but fortunately not inside the car.

I have stock exaust manifolds, true dual 2.25 mandrel bent piping no cats/emissions and flowmaster mufflers 40 series. Not loud enough. Going to get headers next. Tried muffler eliminators but sounded like garbage. Once I get headers and a CAI, should be loud to where I want it.

Put a Flowmaster 50 Series based cat back on sons 87 when he bought it, main cat is gutted.
It does not drone at all and really isn't very loud.

I have Flowmasters on my 84, and they are pretty loud. But it's not obnoxiously loud. The tone is actually fairly nice, though at low speeds it's noisy in the cabin.

Not for the shy or faint hearted.

Had flowmasters on my '91 coupe and changed them out to Magnaflow cat-back system. Both have a drone.....at cruising speed, but I would say the flowmasters had a more severe drone and were basically louder all around. I went with the Magnaflow system mainly b/c of the looks and the fact they are stainless. Most of the forum members, as said previously, agree that Corsa are the best, but certainly pricey in comparison....

My L98 stock with a FlowMaster 50 series cat back allows you hear the stereo and have a conversation at any speed.

On my 91 I have headers, 2.5" duals (no cats), an x-pipe, and 40 series Flows. I think it sounds great from outside of the car, but it'll rattle the fillings out of your teeth when it hits the "drone zone"

Mine, with an x instead of the resonator, got loud inside the cabin around 2000 RPM. When I did my spring project, I went to a 3.73 gear and it had an unintended result, it moved the cruising RPMs at 70 to about 2500. Everyone who rides in it says "wow, your car is actually quieter now." It's not, far from it, but inside it seems that way.

I have the TPIS catback with the flowmasters, but I don't know what series they are. There is a slight drone in the lower RPMs, but it is bearable. It is not very loud outside the vehicle, marginally loud when stomped on....

My PO installed some Flowmasters on my 91 6-spd vert. Mufflers only, no other exhaust mods. Sorry, I don't know what model, anyone know how to tell?

I was apprehensive at first, since I had previously test-driven a 95 LT1 with Flowmasters that were obnoxiously loud. I was VERY pleased. Loud enough to widen my smile, but quiet enough not to intrude on the stereo/conversation. I have some drone at highway speed, but I don't even notice it unless I'm climbing a hill. Level ground is pretty quiet. Of course, most of my driving is top-down, which I think drops the exhaust noise a lot. I still have the original mufflers, but have never even been inclined to put them on.

Sparkostatic: Do you have other mods other than the mufflers? Mine sound much more steady at idle. Otherwise, they sound very similar to your vid, though maybe a tad quieter in cabin.

As far as exhaust mods, mufflers only.I did have a new "Hi Flow" main cat put on.But I guess their all Hi Flow now.Im not sure if the main cat would be a factor since the previous owner had a replacement installed just prior to my purchase

I have Flowmasters Force II exhaust with Long Tubes, no cats with my 396LT1. My youtube vids have it with a XE230/236 and Hot Cam.

Walker Quiet Flow mufflers eliminated the drone on my 89.
