I want to upgrade the stock L98 intake and my budget for this is up to $1000, what do you recomand ?

I was thinking at this http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-3891/, or can I find anything better for the money ?

do I have to modifie anything else if I do the upgrade ?

thanks,

I recommend you get a whole different set up. You will probably be disappointed with your new stuf(for the money) f it is the same basic design as you already have.

I have done the modification you are looking at.

You can read about it here:

http://members.***.net/effergyvette/...e_install.html

There are a number of potential pitfalls of an intake swap (which are in the link above).

While you will get a bit more power, if the engine is stock, I would do headers first. I felt the biggest seat of the pants gain from the headers.

You can see my header install here:

http://members.***.net/effergyvette/...r_Install.html

If I were to do it again, I would go with either a miniram/heads/cam combo or do a full engine build starting with a 383 with a miniram/heads/cam.

The engine build is expensive stuff as you would need a stronger tranny and diff (if you have an auto with the Dana 36, the manual trans and Dana 44 would probably be ok).

The upgraded TPI mods will add power, but for the money spent, you are not getting much, and in any car as old as the C4s are, you are bound to find a bunch of little pieces (tubing, sensors, wiring, etc) that are on the way out if not gone already. This means that the cost of the intake and gaskets will not be the cost of the intake swap.

If you want a little bit more power, get your car in good shape (tune up parts) and get a custom tune to maximize what you have.

If you want a lot more power then I would recommend the 383/miniram + tranny + diff. This is a $10K+ solution, and only you can decide if it is worth it, or if the money is better used buying a different car.

You might be able to find a used Superram for that price.
