"Well, I have received some very, very unfortunate news today.
This project has been officially canceled.
It seems that after speaking to many of our engine builders, warehouses, racer clients and others that our initial assessment was somewhat over-inflated, our secondary assessment has not been nearly as positive as the first, sadly.
I and everyone else here at Dart realize that this is a big let down for a lot of the people who showed so much interest in the project. I don't make any excuses for it, we messed up this one, and we're sorry.
I, personally am disappointed that we decided not to do this, as I was really looking forward to going ahead with it, but I also understand why, in the end, it was decided not to do so.
I suspect that I'll get beat up a bit for this announcement, it's not one that I enjoy making... I certainly don't hold it against anyone who is upset about this.
Sorry again to everyone who showed such support for the project. "
I know alot of people myself included were looking forward to a big cube lt1 engine. I can understand that the lt1's unfortunately have been forgotten about by the aftermarket companies.
Well, I was actually surprised when they mentioned even trying to tackle something like this. I though I was the one out of the loop on the support/demand/popularity of this platform?
It's too small of a market, now more than a decade removed... what can you expect?
I guess a 427+ LT-x is not going to happen.... time to get serious about the 383-396 options.
Alot of guys say they were going to buy that Dart block, but in reality, I wonder how many actually would of purchased it.
I dont think there is a market for it personally.
at this point in time i don't think it would be that big of a seller but for the limited run and amount of blocks that are really out there to keep cars going i would think that there will be a demand for them at some point.
I think that the LT1 F-Body people would have been the majority of the potential buyers. More of them have race cars that would have benefited from the larger cid potential of the block. Some of them are pretty vocal about giving the LS crowd a run with the LT1 & would rather die than switch to the LSx. The block gave someone a "new" starting point for a new build, no more j-yard scrounging for a block that might be cracked, needs 4 bolt caps installed, is limited on overbore. That machine work adds up quick.
