Default Replacing plug wires - easy vs hard

I just installed my headers and know that most likely the stock wires are going to have to go. I assume they wont take the heat. Some of you may be relieved to know I'm not going to ask which are the best wires, but I would like to know how much work to expect. Just looking at the front end I don't think there is easy access. The pass side looks like it might be visalbe but the drivers side shows no sign. It looks like the AC and/or alt will have to come out for starters. Any advice from those who have done this?

I assume your changing plug wires on an LT1? If so, it's not a fun job.

The drivers side is a pain in the *** no matter what you do. I removed the power steering pulley which made that area a lot more accessible.

I did mine the hard way - while I had the waterpump off to replace the WP & opti.
It was easy to route them that way though

just did mine today, went with msd 8.5mm wires, and ngk plugs. the driver side took me a good 3-4 hours. i had to pull the a/c compressor off to the side, remove the serpentine belt tensioner, then i had access to the opti. it was very hard to get them routed, and pretty difficult to get the plugs out. finished up that side, went to the passenger side, took me maybe a half hour. i didnt have to remove anything, other then the air cleaner already being off. pretty sure it took care of the misfiring i was getting though

This was the info I was looking for, Thanks. I could see the pass side OPTI when I was doing the headers so I thought I might be able to get them a little easier but wasn't sure what needed to be removed to get to the drivers side.

When I do the drivers side, I find it makes it a whole lot easier to remove the P/S pulley and tensioner and I will unbolt the P/S pump from the bracket so the access to pass the wires through is easier. It's really not a big deal to do those things providing you have the correct puller/installer. On the passenger side, just take your time and I have always done it without removing the A/C compressor or W/P.

Hey, I did mine while I had the motor out on a stand for a rebuild.
Nice and clean, no problems getting to anything... hey, I even sat down for the whole process.
