I have bought these xenon bulbs: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...mZ280372728314, and I'm not sure that they are the correct ones for my cluster, because I have read that these bulbs claim 5 watts, so if we calculate the amperage (I=P/V) we can obtain 5/12=0.42A. I'm a little afraid of it because I don't know if I can fit these bulbs or they can be a risk for the cluster. I have read that xenon bulbs are better for our C4 clusters, but I'd prefer to ask you before fitting them
Those will work. These flEaBAY bulbs come with their own sockets because they are specific to those bulbs that the seller has pieced together. Disassemble the cluster and clean up the contact points where the sockets strike on the PCB board before you twist them in/on. Your not going to "hurt" the cluster by installing the bulbs since they are not powered by the cluster itself (the power just runs through the cluster to power the bulbs). Xenon bulbs were used in the 1989 clusters from the factory because they figured out they have greater illumination while generating less heat compared to the halogen versions. As I'm sure your aware heat is the #1 destroyer of electronics....so keeping the heat down is a good thing. Xenon bulbs tend to produce a less "yellow" looking illumination.....you'll see the difference once they are in.
Let us know how long those last.

Thank you very much! As soon as I receive those bulbs I'll fit them into the cluster and I'll take some photos
Finally we'll have to wait more time because the eBayer seller stoled me He sent me 4 halogen bulbs when he put in his item description and wrote to me an e-mail that these bulbs are the 1989 xenon ones Now I'll have to find another xenon models and try to recover my money by PayPal
What do you think? If they work then they will be good because LED bulbs never generate heat, don't get high consumption and never fail. Does anyone here have installed LED bulbs in the cluster?

LEDs are good for ~ 80,000 hours of use(they do fail). LEDs do generate a level of heat but it is slightly less than Xeon or halogen. I recommend going with a side firing SMD version (greater light dispersion) rather than those in your link.

I have searched for a 194 SMD bulbs, but I didn't find any bulb where the SMD are positioned on the side of the bulb (it's important because the light must go to the sides mainly). Anyway I'll probe these bulbs and if they work properly I'll let you know it because it can be a great upgrade for our clusters
A poster said a while back that the Xenon lamps are longer than the halogen lamps and the metal covers won't sit flush. Has anyone found that to be true?

I've already been down the road were your heading. I'll shoot you a PM with the an option you may be interested in.
