Default OptiSuck Replacement

Hey guys. There was a thread on here not so long about what other options there were to replace the Opti. Well one of my friends at Holley just got back in town and sent me the list. It has part numbers and estimated prices. Here is the e-mail he sent me

Here is a list of parts they will need to do the swap. They should be
able to leave the factory computer hooked up to use for the speedometer and
mileage.
1. commander 950 system (950-105)
2. hp ignition system (800-100)
3. crank trigger (840-110) The arm will have to be spaced out or a new one
made
4. ati balancer (917271)
Also needed is a piston stop and a coat hanger to make a timing pointer.
This is required to set the timing up. Here are some ideas on pricing
1. 660.00
2. 200.00
3. 185.00
4. 400.00
Keep in mind this are not exact only ideas.

Yeah, it's price doesn't seem too bad considering the mileage you typically get out of it.

The opti is a great piece as long as you keep it dry. Most people don't have any trouble with them for the first 50-70K miles. That is pretty good for a lifespan of a distributor.

I agree. Not bad those optis. Mine had 102K on it...still working fine. Pulled it this winter and put in a new one vented. BUT...the old one wasn't THAT bad!! Gonna keep it, put on a new cap/rotor/bearing (for a spare).

It would be a good investment, if only you did it on the first opti... but gee... I have done mine and I don't wanna spend that much on this thing.

It should improve performance a bit, tho...

I think I was going to race, I would go this way.
