Brake fluid depends on if you still have mostly stock stuff with ABS and what year it is If around a 91 I will gladly go look in the FSM but think they insist on DOT 3 so anything that meets that spec should be fine I would think. I think the spec is for ABS compatibility more than anything.
BTW thanks for all the good tips you have given me and others. I am going to check both the trans ID tag and line presuures next week while up on stands doing brakes. The last tip you gave someone on the servo sounds just like mine is now much better just a tad harsh on the 1-2 shift. But it downshifts now etc.
Any reccomendations for a shift kit and pan with drain plug? it's a 91 700R4 stock as far as I know 69k miles.. Hoping to make 375 to 400 at the crank and 400 ft/lbs over the winter..

Where can I get the 'aftermarket brown spring'?? I have not found a trans shop near me that will install a shift kit without rebuilding the trans and have no idea if that is common.. Is this a project a reasonable good mechanic / machinist can tackle or are there a but of better watch out gottcha kinds of things to go wrong?

I have done several of these shift kits and the only hidden gotcha that I would warn you about is.. Follow the directions.. and keep it clean, clean, clean.. other than that its simple stuff.
