Default Passive Keyless Entry Light does not turn off (ever)

I searched but could not find help this subject. My passive keyless entry light on the dash stays on all the time except when I turn the car on, it turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on. It's killing my battery and my Patience. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Its a 94 coupe, I do not have the key fobs but do intend on buying them. How do I get the light to turn off? If I pull the fuse will it mess anything else up?

I've had problems with the PKE and the light on the dash as well on my 95. Seeing as how I don't use the PKE and it doesn't throw codes, I pulled the fuse earlier this summer so I never see the lght anymore. Problem solved.

No problem. Just a note about you buying a fob, I have a functioning key fob and can't get the PKE to work anymore so you may want to save some money and not get a fob. My guess is that it's the module in the car that has malfunctioned.

Default check your door ajar switches

Frequently, failed/faulty 'door ajar' switches cause all sorts of problem, including issues with the PKE system.

There's also a chance that a fuse is already blown and that's why the PKE dash light is on..

Also, the PKE system can be 'deactivated' -- check your owners manual.

BTW, the CCM has an ability to display the 'status' of its various inputs (e.g. 'door ajar' switches). So you could use this feature to confirm if the 'door ajar' switches (and other 'inputs') are working correctly.

Alternatively, the 'door ajar' light on the dash could also be used to test the 'door ajar' switches.

Also, occasionally, the door(s) key 'switch' (mounted inside door behind the door key tumbler) can be out of position and cause problems. Try using the key and centering the key/tumbler.

Thanks Admiral. The door switches in my car funtion correctly. The FSM shows how to deactivate PKE but that's by using a fob and assuming the PKE is functioning. I couldn't see any other method in the FSM that showed how to deactivate it once it starts malfunctioning. I did try the method shown in the FSM but it didn't work (which I didn't think it would) since the PKE module doesn't seem to work correctly in the first place.

I guess I can try jiggling the door key next summer as a last resort. I put the car away for the winter as of last weekend.

However I'm pretty happy with the fuse pull so apart from trying to jiggle the key I'll more than likely leave it alone.

Actually now that I think about it, I had the driver's side door skin off twice this summer to repair the floppy door syndrome. Maybe one of the times I put everything back together I dislodged the key switch internally. That might have some merit and I'll take a peek at it next summer since the PKE worked perfectly until this summer. Coincidence? hrm.

If I recall, looking at the schematics, there isn't much reason for the light to constantly stay on unless the module is shot. I believe the dummy light is connected to it, not the CCM/BCM/whatever it's called that year.

The receiver isn't that hard to change, you pull the dash pad off and it's at the top of the center stack.

You'll have to help me then. Because that's why I gave up, my module needs to be replaced and I saw the only way out and bought a key chain.
