Default Kinda stupid question...

I am building a replacement engine on the side as I get money. Right now I am trying to price out a rotating assembly, which because of my race class has to be just like the factory (I am allowed forged internals for longevity and weight savings). What length rod came in a factory L98? 5.7" or 6"? Other than CNC Motorsports who has good deals on balanced rotating assemblies?

I recommend seeing your favorite (local if possible) machinest. Let him pick the pieces and check and balance them. The price is usually similar, and you get a better end result.
I just opened a brand new set of Eagle rods, and they are all .001 small. I have to open them up to fix them. By buying the parts from the machinest, he can tweak them to be perfect. As I said, you get more for your money that way.

Checking around I went with a local race engine builder. He's is making and has made many of the local engines around here. As above stock is 5.7", consider a 6" or 6.125". Pay close attention to the dynamic compression ratio.

I've had good luck with www.flatlanderracing.com

Local is always a good option as well.

I thought that was the whole point of the thread. That you HAD to use the factory length rods.

RACE ON!!!
I am mostly sure but I am allowed things like forged instead of cast and Im allowed .5 increase in compression and less than 1.5% increase in displacement. It might in there somewhere.
