just finishing up my 383 build when I went to mount the front accessory bracket and realised the bracket on the passenger side wont bolt up. the problem is the cylinder head doesn't have one the upper bolt hole tapped out its the one closes to the intake. is there something I can do? please help
Drill and tap a 3/8" hole. If you have a good eye and guts, try it in the car with the heads on.
Thats scary. How many bolt holes are there to mount bracket? If you have a bolt hole above & below that missing hole you should be fine.I personally would not drill into head
would just having two bolt really do the job your would the torque from the engine cause the bracket to rock back and forth
Try it and see. If it snaps off, you will know.
GM put the holes there in the later years to accomidate the modern brackets. If they engineered for it, they likely need to be there.
