I don't know what the original tires (bought the car with 46Kmiles)were, but according to my 92 owners manual the original tires were asymmetrical and directional, so they should only have been rotated front to back. I just (4000miles ago)put on Firestone Wide ovals with 5 spoke wheels. do I rotate them normally (cris cross) or just front to back. I would think front to back but just want to check.
I just posted a question last week about this very subject..If you don't have directional tires or rims you can rotate front to back and side to side if there the same size rim. If you have directional rims and/or tires and they are the same size you can rotate front to back only..If your rims are different sizes then you can't rotate at all. There was one guy on here that said you can't rotate side to side with radial tires, but I have checked with 2 different tire manufactors and they both said that you can rotate side to side without any problems...WW

On the outside, the Firehawk Wide Oval features high performance silica-enhanced L.L. Carbon tread rubber compound molded into an independent-block, directional tread design to blend responsive handling along with wet and dry traction, while circumferential and lateral grooves team up to provide hydroplaning resistance.
Take a look at the sidewall of your tire. All directional tires will have an arrow indicating direction of rotation molded into the side of the tire.
As posted above, if they are not directional tires you can rotate them side to side.
If your tires are same size front & rear & non-directional you can rotate them any way you want if you have aftermarket rims that are non-directional.If you have the "saw blade" rims you will only be able to rotate front to rear or vise-versa assuming tires & rims are same size.

In the early days of radial tires, you couldn't rotate them side-to-side. I don't think it's been an issue for 20 years, though.
