Default Burnout contest

Will doing a burnout until the tires pop hurt the car. I have a rebuild automatic transmission, D36, L98 motor. I have a burnout contest I want to enter BUT I don't want to kill something in it. Runs great so no issues with reliability.

There is a video on youtube, I have been looking for and can't find, but a newer one goes first than a white c4 which take 2nd place.

The c4 pops one tire, stops for a second then he puts his hands out the roof, and goes again until the second tire pops.

some times on a corvette though, if the tire rips it will shred the wheel wells.

Your fenders can be damaged if the outside of the tire shreads. It if takes a few minutes to blow the tires, I've seen videos of cars overheating because of the high rpms and minimal air through the radiator. I think it's just better to watch. Save the hp for the track.

One of the cruise ins I went to this year had a burnout contest. One of the guys had a early C4 with a built up engine. He was burning the hell out of his tires for about a minute until I hear this loud bang then everything was silent..His car starts leaking coolant out the bottom for a short while, then I see smoke coming out from under the car and its on fire. This guys car is really starting to blaze now and his hood starts to melt. He's screaming for someone to give him a fire extingusher but nobody is helping and it keeps burning for about 10 minites till the firetruck gets there..TO LATE!!! It was a nice vette to.. So I would say yeah, go ahead burn those tires, it could turn out ok for ya...OR NOT.....WW

waste of tires that aren't cheap to replace...better to watch, not so fun after you're done and realize you've wasted about 50K miles of tire tread in a few short minutes...lol

Both bikes caught fire and one rider ended up in hospital after a burnout competition went disastrously wrong at the weekend.

Neil de Jersey’s Yamaha FZR1000 EXUP burst into flames shortly after he stopped his burnout, with the fire leaping onto his burnout rival’s GSX-R too.

The Suzuki’s flames were soon put out but the EXUP received a throrough roasting.

De Jersey, who is said to be recovering well from his burns, won the competition, won a set of tyres, but he has no bike to put them on.

This is hilarious... Don't be afraid to burnout !

Some of these negative comments posted are just ridiculous to me.

I am on Ford forums and Viper forums also, I have never seen another forum where people are so concerned about how childish or stupid a burn out is.

I drive fun cars for fun not for an extension, gas mileage or to feel cool.

It is a cheap car, and it is built for fun not comfort. Have some fun.

Have any of you nay sayers ever done a real burn out? it feels great and is addicting for most people.

Have you ever gone to a car show seen burnouts and been like "how stupid"? LOL
come on! his toy his business.

I don't get it. Yeah, it's your car and your business, but what's so great about beating the hell out of your car and shredding your tires? Although it doesn't take any brains or skill to do this, it sure seems to appeal to the "more dollars than sense" crowd. Call me stupid but...

because seeing who can get from point A to point B, a whopping 1320 feet away first - or who can drive in circles for 500 miles the fastest without totally destroying their car, - or for that matter driving around trying to destroy as many cars as possible before your own car gives out - or pulling a xxx ton load the farthest, - or seeing who can drive cross-country within the confines of the law the fastest, - or WHATEVER - all make so much sense? It's called motorsports. All of them. Anything you can do with an engine and a uh, "car". One makes just as much sense as any of the others. Jet cars aren't nearly as fast as top fuel dragsters, but they get more reaction from the crowds, even when doing something as "stupid" as backing up and burning down an old school bus. Do any of them really make "sense"? Maybe not, but they're all pretty damned fun!

Enter your burnout contest. I have been to hundreds, and the blown-up engine or destroyed car is, in my experience, the exception.

Aint that the truth!

Much thanks guys for the yay and nay sayers.

I was asking because of the burnout video from DC.com Patrick blew up two of his cars. A Z06 and a C6. He ran them both hard though and chained them together.

Well the way it sounds, maybe I should switch to a different car sooner than later.

Blown engines from a burn out? Never blew or even came close to blowing up a rustang, then again some people might not shift LOL any motor you keep pegged will blow.

For those afraid get em roasting than shift ! If it bogs down or leaves the line GET MORE POWER.
