I don't get it. Yeah, it's your car and your business, but what's so great about beating the hell out of your car and shredding your tires? Although it doesn't take any brains or skill to do this, it sure seems to appeal to the "more dollars than sense" crowd. Call me stupid but...
I disagree.
I bet most of the guys here can't do a burn out. They might be able to drop the clutch and peel out, but I bet they can't keep it going in one spot.
The auto guys I have seen posts on how to do a burn out.
It is stupid, but so are a lot of things that are fun.
Well the way it sounds, maybe I should switch to a different car sooner than later.
Blown engines from a burn out? Never blew or even came close to blowing up a rustang, then again some people might not shift LOL any motor you keep pegged will blow.
For those afraid get em roasting than shift ! If it bogs down or leaves the line GET MORE POWER.
This is not aboat a burnout but burnout contest where one burns rubber until the tires pop...
When a modern tire fails cosmetic damage to the car may result, and IMO its amazing that more engines don't blow when they are pegged and bouncing off of the limiter for 2 or 3 minutes while waiting for the tire to fail.

But once again I say GO FOR IT>
Yes I know, I am saying to shift, you will never take his car and burn out in all gears at top rpm. I told him he might rip his wheel wells, there is a video of a c4 going until both pop. You don't keep it pegged unless you are willing to rebuild EVER. the higher the gear you are in the more the MPH the tire spins obviously. If he can get out of first or second he will keep up.
this is how I would do it.

Back in the day when I was in High school (1974-76) we had the quarter mile marked off in front of the school. On weekends and at night we use to do massive burn outs in front of the school.

Will doing a burnout until the tires pop hurt the car. I have a rebuild automatic transmission, D36, L98 motor. I have a burnout contest I want to enter BUT I don't want to kill something in it. Runs great so no issues with reliability.
You should be fine except possible damage when tire pops.I say go for it,you only live once & at least you can say you did it one time.Post video if you do

The reason I bought another corvette is because I beat the **** out of my first one & that car was always reliable. Now I beat on my 1994 corvette & as long as its maintained properly it should handle it.If my car cannot handle being beat on & breaks down all the time I don't want it!
Polo....When I was in High School everybody had muscle cars. We did some smokes shows, not stupid ones though. I had a 67 Shelby my junior year and a 62 corvette when I was a senior. My cousin had a hemi cuda with a pistol grip. Polo, that hemi could SMOKE the tires. We had lots of good times in that cuda, listening to DEEP PURPLE smoke on the water . We were cruzin and boozin.

Mike, I am from the same era as you, and this story reminds me of one guy who quit school in his junior year and when we were seniors ready to graduate, he showed up at my high school in the parking lot with his 1969 440 six pack roadrunner. He wanted for us to remember him I guess, so he did a massive burnout. It was so powerful that he smoked out the entire school as the buildings windows were open. We all had to leave the building for a short time. It definitely worked if he wanted to be remembered! GOOD TIMES buddy, GOOD TIMES.

I am from that Era as well.. nothing sounded as cool as my 64 409 SS roasting those 19 dollar bias ply cheapos we used to run.
as to the rest : Its a corvette for crying out loud.. not some luxury barge or collectors item. If the idea that a performance car attracts people who want to show off that performance once in awhile surprises or offends you? Step away from the grecian formula, put down the keys to the vette, Cause friends and neighbors they build 600+ horsepower production street cars because WE LIKE THEM!

I'll bet most guys here CAN do a burnout. To me smoking the tires looks cool, but in reality doesn't show that the car is fast, quick or that the driver has some great skill. It's just something that pumps alot of us motorheads up showing off our cars. In the end when we do destroy something in the car, we all cry like little girls about how much it's going to cost to fix.
