Ok in Lingenfelter's book he reccomened a hydraulic (Non-roller)224/234 duration and .465/.488 lift with 114 lobe seperation for a 383. I'm confused, is this cam a 224/234 or is it 282/292??? The Ed Wright chip is coming in tomorrow and we cranked the car today with the stock chip to check everything and it has a pretty radical idle. Will the chip take care of some of this? It's running rich with the 30# injectors.
The car in question is a '86 coupe 383, with this cam, 2.02 heads, etc
Here's the card......
I had a comp cam 268H in my '68 Stingray and this thing sounds way more radical. Ed Wright even said this would be a good cam when I spoke to him?
I agree with the second post that the cam is mild... with that 383 you should be over .5" lift and a hair more duration. You should be able to get 450hp easy if you go with the larger cam.
I think you should consider using a roller cam as well.
Now a roller with the same spec's ( well...maybe with more lift ) will give very good performance...maybe at the 400-430 HP level, and even run smoother.
