Window/Door Water Leak
Thanx

I had the same problem with my 84, Same spot yours is leaking...
I put new WS as well & it still leaked...
I have got mine to stop leaking now, All I had to do was add 3M weather strip glue to the door WS & have not had any problems with water getting in since..
Hope this helps!!!
Ant...
As someone mentioned above, you also need to make sure the W/S is glued all the way around, if its not glued, it can provide a path along the W/S for the water to find a opening to get in.
Take a look at the stains on your photos and you can clearly see where the water is coming from.....
I know Wilcox sells these drip seals, not cheap but not too many places sell them.
Good luck

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I'll take some more pictures tomorrow and post them now that I know what the problem must be.
One more question: has you front windshield ever been replaced?
If you're sure you glued you WS 100% with a continous bead, not much left then this.
The seals actually have metal sandwiched in them, when they start to rust, the swell up and absorb the water and rot even faster, then they allow the water to take a different path, looks like right into your door panel area in your case.
If you replace these, make sure you use weatherstrip adhesive on them so they stay in place and create a barrier to seal the inside from this runoff.
Good luck and let us know how these look when you get them, I'm gonna need a set soon myself..
Good luck,
Gibby

I don't know if the windshield has ever been replaced. I do see, however,my left door WS right about where the stains are is kinda torn and ripped a little. I believe the door WS seals against these dash seals is this correct? I might also need the door WS as well?

Looks like your problem is both door weatherstrips and a need for new rain drip seals, I thought your door weatherstrips were new (asumption on my part) or I would have suggested that right away. The new "A" pillar W/S is probably not mating up to your "old" door W/S too well and your door W/S is just plain done.......
I'll change both door WS & the 2 ea. Dash Seals.
I'll try and post more pictures tomorrow.
BTW: What actually makes the seal? The Dash Seals to Door WS and where does the "A" Pillar WS come into play?
Thanx

The internal metal portion of this parts tends to rust with age and when they rust they distort. This can and will cause a water leak if not replaced.

Left side weatherstrip is most definately done, right side looks a lot better, If you are doing one, might as well do both unless the Right side is new....
While you're at it, you might want to check and make sure you door hinged are tight, test them by opening the door 6-10 inches, pull up and down on the end of the door closest to your quarter panel, if you get any noticable play, bushing may need to be replaced. Do your doors close easily? Do they drop down slightly when you open them up?
Tel-tale signs of wear if any of the above are present....
Good luck

the passengers side on my 90 was so bad, the internal metal strip was completely rusted into powder.
