Same title, about codes frustration.
I really need your help.
Thanks :smash:
Hmmm.. My local Chevy parts guy told me that the relays were the same. If not then that could be why mine sets a code 33 twice a year. If I change the relays it runs great but eventually I will get a code 33.
SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT-CODE 33 NEW P/N MAF POWER RELAY #86-152
MODEL AND YEAR: 1986 CAMARO WITH LB9 ENGINE (ENG. CODE F) 1986 CORVETTE WITH L98 ENGINE (ENG. CODE 8)
Some 1986 Camaros and Corvettes with port fuel engines may experience complaints of service engine soon light and poor driveability. If this condition occurs and a code 33 is found stored in the ECM, the following steps should be taken.
1. Perform diagnostic check for Code 33 found in your 1986 Shop Manual (Section 6E3).
2. If Code 33 is intermittent it will be necessary to change the MAF power relay. The MAF power relay new P/N is 10067925.
NOTICE: CARE MUST BE TAKEN TO CHANGE THE CORRECT RELAY. REFER TO ILLUSTRATIONS.
This is not an intermittent problem. The only tipoff is the ses light. The car runs perfectly from idle right to redline. And all affected systems described in previous threads work fine as well.. That's what bugs me.
I did change both relays on the firewall behind the battery. Visual inspection of all terminals show no dirt or damage. MAF unit and connections check out as well.
BTW I'm actively looking to trade this thing in for a C5 as soon as I see one I want. Could be any day. I'm just afraid I won't be able to unload it with a SES light on. After 13 years with this car, it's time to part ways.... :seeya
