Hey Guy's,
Just another little thing to take care of. Regardless of where I place the heater selection lever, from AC to Defrost, the majority of the air comes out of the windshield duct. The blower and the temp controls seem to be working properly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm not familiar with the manual version, but a good place to start, would be the vacuum check valve. Find it and see if all 3 lines are hooked up to it. It's located at the back of intake, DS of dizzy.
This info is from the 86 FSM, should shed some light on the problem, which seems to be the vacuum actuated doors. http://members.shaw.ca/dankai/HVAV'S.pdf
First thing to check is the vacuum check on the engine. It's on the passenger side near the rear of the engine. it's attached to the plenum. there is one vvacuum line to it and two lines going from it. the one line goes to the vacuum contoller unnde the dash. the other line goes to the cruise control.
does your cruise control work ? If not, the problem is most likely this check valve.
good luck
Thanks, my cruise doesn't work. I've checked the cruise diaphram and electrical connection which are both good. I found the check valve your speaking of. I started the engine and I have vacuume coming out of the valve to the cruise and the other line. I assume that's correct. Is there an easy way to check the connection at the door actuator?
I pulled the control unit out of mine & found the air tube, a red one, was broken. That still didn't fix mine. I think the actuator itself is bad. I think I'll have to pull the dash pad to get to it.
There are a bunch of air tubes behind the control unit check there.
Goodluck.
Thanks,
Just hooked up a vacuum pump to the super small line that, I believe, goes inside to the actuator. It wouldn't hold any pressure at all. It's like there's nothing on the other end of the line. This makes me think that it's either the line, somewhere, or the actuator. Now the question I don't want to ask, how do I get at the actuator? Where the heck is it?
Who's got a little time to come over and pull it out for me, lol.
