Ok, having transmission issue. Box is running well, however the clutch slave died and needed replacing. Fixed that, now teh the reverse lockout switch or whatever you want to call the unit you have to pull up on to put the ZF6 in reverse has broken. The issue at hand is two fold, do I chase down the part and repair it, or do I replace it with a HURST which eliminates lockout all togehter I am told. From what I have read don't feel a B&M is the right fit for me. I am not a fan of the hurst shifter ball in my 90. Was ok in the 69 GTX but looks odd in a corvettes' interior.
If you do go the replacement route, call ZF Doc and see if he can hook you up with a 1996 MY variant shifter which has no lock out but rather crash-thu reverse protection.
You may be able to eyeball it and repair yours if you remove the center console bezel details for that are in the C4 Audio FAQ.
The plastic collar ring you pull up on has disconnected and is just sliding up and down the shaft.
Mine did the same thing. With mine, there is a little hex set screw that came loose which locks in that collar. If your happy with the present shifter, it may be worth taking it apart and checking that hex screw. I swapped mine for a Hurst and love it. Could stand the reverse lockout function.
